His brother Harun remained among them as a gentle guide, someone who knew how to speak to their hearts. Yet within the community was a man who understood the crowd well, carried hidden motives, and possessed a deceptive charisma: the Samiri. Misinterpreting certain signs he had witnessed, he imagined himself to hold special knowledge. As Musa received revelation, the Samiri exploited the weaknesses of the people and started the trial of the golden calf—while Musa’s return would unveil the difference between truth and illusion.
