Before accepting Islam, Umar ibn al-Khattab was known for his courage, strength, and firm personality. He was among the notable figures of Quraysh and worked to preserve the pagan order of Mecca. He witnessed the torture inflicted on early Muslims and would even call for more severity against them. Though questions about truth flickered deep in his heart, the walls of the life he was used to living suppressed those whispers.
One day, his anger reached a level where he said, “I must end this message completely.” With that mindset, he decided to kill the Messenger of Allah. But the steps he would take that day would lead him not to violence, but to a moment that would open his heart to Islam forever.
