When the Children of Israel forgot the blessings granted to them and became divided, they grew weak before their enemies. Allah appointed Saul (Talut) as their commander, though many disliked him for his modest status. Still, the army gathered and set out to face the tyrannical commander Goliath (Jalut) and his massive forces. Along the way came tests — most notably the river test that separated the weak-hearted from those who truly trusted in Allah. Among that small, steadfast group was a young shepherd nobody paid attention to: David (Dawud). Through this battle, his name would become a symbol of courage and trust in Allah until the end of time.
