
Qarun’s Trial of Wealth and His Downfall
The cautionary end of a heart spoiled by wealth

Qarun was from the Children of Israel and was initially granted knowledge and means. Over time, such immense treasures were given to him that even carrying the keys to his vaults was difficult for a strong group of men. Instead of leading him to gratitude and humility, this wealth pushed him toward arrogance and ostentation. Rather than acknowledging his wealth as a blessing from God, he attributed it to his own intelligence and abilities. As his ego grew, he began to belittle the poor and mock those who gave him sincere advice.
