The Teaching of Justice in Trade by Prophet Shuayb

Prophet Shuayb was sent by Allah to the people of Midian. He was a prophet of gentle speech and a heart full of mercy. His people were known for trade; their markets were busy, and their scales moved constantly. Yet over time, the desire for profit overshadowed their sense of justice. Cheating in measurement became normal. The strong easily diminished the rights of the weak, silencing their conscience with the thought, “It won’t matter.” In such an atmosphere, Shuayb, peace be upon him, was sent to remind them that commerce, too, is an act of worship.
