Prophet Ishmael was a special gift granted to Prophet Abraham after long years of yearning for a child. From his father he learned pure monotheism, and from his mother Hajar he learned surrender and trust. The tenderness of a loving father and the harshness of desert life met in his young heart. Though only a child, he carried a vast certainty: “My Lord is with me.” When the great test arrived, this childlike heart was invited into a level of submission that even many grown hearts would struggle to bear.
