The sons of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him), Abel and Cain, were the first brothers in human history—and also the two opposing sides of history's first great conflict. In one heart grew submission and piety; in the other, jealousy and pride. A sacrificial offering presented to God revealed the inner state of both hearts. You may think of this story as the first tragedy demonstrating how destructive unchecked jealousy can become.
