The Expedition of Tabuk was one of the journeys in Islamic history that could truly be called a “test of hard times.” The call came during the most scorching season, when dates were ripening and shade was most desired. While everyone in Medina expected cool shade and abundant harvest, the Prophet invited them to a distant, harsh, and uncertain expedition. The hypocrites made various excuses, while the believers examined their hearts under the weight of saying “yes.” This journey was to be won not only by the sword, but by intention and loyalty.
