The People of the Sabbath were a community of Israelites living by the sea, whose livelihood depended heavily on fishing. Allah made Saturday a sacred day of worship for them and forbade them from fishing on that day. As a test, fish would appear abundantly on Saturdays, surfacing in large groups, while on other days they were scarce. For those whose hearts were firm, this was a call to submission; for those inclined to deception, it became a dangerous temptation. As they searched for ways to circumvent the prohibition, they were in fact preparing their own downfall.
